this is something that i have been thinking about lately that i might possibly do to often. when you raise preflop and its just down to two people do you always bet out? i pretty much always do and i think that it might be costing me at times. i know i dont always bet out if i do hit the flop. the hand looks fine to me. although betting the turn doesnt look like a bad idea. how often do you check this turn

I think checking the turn cost you the pot. He either hit for free or bluffed you. Maybe he had a set, but....

Default To \"pwned\" guy

What you say seems reasonable, but the combination of that picture and your l33+ sp33k name makes it difficult to look at, much less take very seriously, the responses you post.

No offense intended.

I do not auto bet the pot and perhaps I could have checked here, but I think this is a very reasonable situation to represent a high pocket pair. I mean, I did raise from the BB a lot with limpers.

Were you planning a check raise on the turn?

On the turn my thinking was, I raised $60 preflop so how can I put him on a hand that I am afraid of giving free cards, like TJ, or 56, etc. I feel he most likely has a pocket pair (maybe a set, probably just a pocket pair). A bet on the turn lets him get away from it very easily. My plan was for him to check, and then for me to put in a value bet on the river.

Maybe im too ABC, but i would always bet the turn there. If he does have some weird draw, or paired the board, or picked up the diomond draw, you cant give him the free card.

Before i give my 2 cents i'd like to point out i dont play these limits and havent play stars for long, maybe 700 hands.

From the way you have played the hand i think mp1 puts you on a PP as well and sees the value bet as a blocking bet. I would check and call here because imo you cant call if mp1 comes over the top, which is likely with a range of hands. It does depend on your read of the player, which you said you none. I try to take into consideration that mp1 also has no read on you and may see check check as weekness and you can snap off bluffs. This is just my line againse an unknown when i have a hand i want to show down.

Laters

Harry
