Overpair and on a Draw
This situation certainly isn't a new one, but it come up with me again last night in a good 15-30 game (b&m casino).
I'm UTG +1 w/ KK and UTG has live straddled. I 3 bet. Folded to SB (LAG, Darkman for any washinton players) who calls, BB calls and straddler calls. Four to the flop. J-6-5 with two hearts (I don't remember my suits, but I didn't have a heart). Blinds check and the straddler bets. We all call. Turn is a black 4 Blinds check, straddler bets and I raise. SB calls, BB mucks, and straddler 3 bets. Now I know this guy pretty well, and I know that when I raise the turn, he's putting me on pretty much exactly what I have, and when he 3 bets me, I also know that I am on a draw. Here's my question. Does anybody fold in this spot? I could be drawing to 8 outs, 2 outs or 1 out or absolutely dead. I called, planning to fold without some kind of river improvement, and just calling with anything but a 3rd king. (I have no way of knowing what 2 pair he might have.) Is this generally the correct line of play in this spot, or am I missing something. Also interested in comments on the flop smooth call. Thanks, lil feller |

Re: Overpair and on a Draw
I think this line of thinking is fine. The card I'd hope for the most (besides a non-heart K) is a 4 since it mostly likely that the straddler had a made hand on the flop (although 87 is possible).

Re: Overpair and on a Draw
I would probably raise the flop because there are at least 15 turn cards that would prevent you from raising the turn even though you may still have the best hand.
