What next? (1)
Following on from my "Am I ahead" post, I will post a few examples of the sort of thing that makes new players like me unsure. If the threads get some interest and if the more regular and experienced posters think it would be worthwhile, I would be happy to try and assemble them as some sort of FAQ for SH post flop play. What do you think?
What next? (1) Party $5/$10. You have just sat down and posted the BB. Average pot size was $67 and you have never played a hand against any of the other 5 players. PREFLOP UTG limps; Button limps; you check with A [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]7 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] FLOP K [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]7 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]2 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] You bet out and both opponents call. TURN What would you do on the following turns and what is your plan for the rest of the hand:- 1 6 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 2 J [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 3 6 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 4 J [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] |

Re: What next? (1)
I think I bet on any of those with the lack of a read. I'm not sure why the suits would matter in this case.

Re: What next? (1)
I bet the turn, and start to think carefully if raised.
I would be more likely to fold to this raise if the turn card was offsuit since there are quite a number of players who raise the turn if they pick up a draw. River: if I was raised on the turn and decided to play on, I think bet and fold to a raise. If I was just called on the turn, bet and usually call. I think. But I am new at this. Guy. |

[ QUOTE ]
I'm not sure why the suits would matter in this case. [/ QUOTE ] Maybe it doesn't. That's why I have started these threads. My reasons for including it were that:- a)someone may have picked up a flush draw and they may now be more willing to call a bet b) The presence of a flush draw means that if you are still ahead there may now be even more ways of losing if you give a free card. c) the presence of the flush draw may make it more likely that you will get raised if you bet. d) the 6[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] puts str8 AND flush draws on the board. Does that increase the power of point a-c and does that change the play? All of these may be irrelevant. If they are; why; what is the overriding principle here that makes a second flush card irrelevant? Does the presence of a second flush card change your play on the river as well depending on what falls? |

I think I would ask for a new deck.

Re: What next? (1)
Well spotted!
Is having 2 x 7 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] better than having them of different suits? Sorry for error. Assume that flop is just rainbow and I have no possible flush. Thanks |
