Default A situation that comes up a lot

I have a good hand with an Ace, raise PF etc etc. I get TP, but with anyone playing any ace I run into someone with 2-pair or something, should I just keep on playing them like this or?

Party Poker 0.50/1 Hold'em (10 handed)

Preflop: Hero is Button with Q[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], A[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img].
UTG calls, UTG+1 calls, UTG+2 calls, MP1 folds, MP2 folds, MP3 folds, CO calls, Hero raises, SB folds, BB folds, UTG calls, UTG+1 calls, UTG+2 calls, CO calls.

Flop: (11.50 SB) 8[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], A[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], 7[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (5 players)
UTG checks, UTG+1 checks, UTG+2 checks, CO checks, Hero bets, UTG raises, UTG+1 folds, UTG+2 folds, CO folds, Hero 3-bets, UTG calls.

that's fine, you represent the ace, then he pulls a stop-n-go when its heads-up. call him down, read (or reread) SSH's hidden outs section, and drag the occasional pot even when you don't improve.

UTG didn't cap the flop - maybe you should raise the turn. I dunno I'm playing devil's advocate here. I probably would've played it the same.

You played this correctly. Keep in mind that:

1. You only have to be ahead here 1/6 of the time to make calling down correct.

2. Many online poker players think they are on the WPT and pull this sort of stop-and-go as soon as they get heads up thinking they can take you off your hand.

Nice hand, the guy got lucky but overall it will work out. Remember you're something like 3:1 over a weaker ace preflop (headsup), so that means 1/4 times you're going to lose, sometimes to 2 pair. But those 3/4 times more than make up for it.

The only thing you could have done better is drawing a Q or a T on the river.

If your question is should you play this slower (by not raising pre-flop or by not 3-betting the flop), then no, keep playing like this.

A case could even be made for raising the turn (though I think I play it like you did).

Ok thanks all, this seems to happen sometimes when an Ace flops with rags, with AK - AT when you are better pf but after they hit 2 pair or something.
