more bad beats online than live tourneys?
Maybe I'm just paranoid, but I don't think so. It seems that I get REALLY unlucky in online tournaments, more so than live games. Is there anything I don't know about online poker to explain this. An example: One, I'm holding KJ [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] in late position and am first-in and raise, get called by big blind. I'm actually chip leader in late stages of tourney, caller has about half my chips. Flop comes out A [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 3 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 10 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]. Big blind bets minimum, I call, and the turn is 3 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]. He bets twice the minimum and I move all-in. He calls after a minute or so, has 44. The river is 3 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]. This is not a normal scenario from my experiences in live games. He made a terrible call and got ridiculously lucky. Is there something inherently different about online poker that I'm not aware of?

There are indeed more bad beet in online tourneys that live tourneys. Luckily this can be explained quite easily ... more bad players playing in more tourneys.

Maybe more bad players who would call an all-in bet with a 44 to that board. More bad calls = more bad beats!

Is there something inherently different about online poker that I'm not aware of? [/ QUOTE ] most definitely. there is no shuffle. there is no dealer. there are no misdeals. nobody spills their drinks on the table. all these reasons, and more, contribute to the fact that, in the course of 1 hour of play, you see about 2 1/2 times more hands dealt online versus live brick and mortar. that is why you see more bad beats. it is also why you are dealt AA a lot more often, though. cheers! |
