Triple Draw Is Evil
I think draw lowball with the bug (California Lowball) a thing of great beauty. I am familiar with its theory, as I have read Mason Malmuth's excellent book Winning Concepts In Draw And Lowball. I have even played it for play money though sadly not for real. (Though I have played lowball without the joker for cash.) However, I do not like Triple Draw Lowball it just seems horrible to contemplate. Yes, I am sure it is profitable and the suckers take three rounds to make an eight but still it just seems horrible to me. Truly evil. It takes all the discernment out of the game.

Re: Triple Draw Is Evil
Funny, I was about to write the same thing about omaha 8/b.
I am at a table full of idiots, and I can't win, my 2 week streak is stretching to 3. Flop straights, and I get rivered by a guy playing top and bottom pair, and he checks his boat on the river. I have won 4 pots in an hour, and been quartered heads up in two of them, the other, no one bet. |

I just hate triple draw in principle. |

Re: Triple Draw Is Evil
of course, I would love hi-card, or blind mans bluff while I was winning at it.
Daniel Negreanu had an article about how we always hate games that we dont understand completely. lowball games definitely fall into that catagory for me, along with stud. |

It takes all the discernment out of the game.
California lowball a game of discernment? Sevens rules? Check-raise rules? Nah, it's better off dead. Triple-draw, so far, has nothing written on it, so it's an excellent venue for the discerning player. Plus, it's usually played pot limit or no limit, which makes it especially juicy. There's a rumor that SS II will have a chapter on TD written by Daniel N. I have read some of his posts on the subject. If the rumors are true, and if readers heed his advice, anticipate a feast. |

Re: Triple Draw Is Evil
i enjoy playing triple draw lowball on UB for micro limits. I also know there are lots of things I don't know because I see pro's absolutely cleaning up at the 80-160. It seems like all the really big pro's play in massive stakes lowball games.

Re: Triple Draw Is Evil
Low limit holdem is just boring - how many times did you get an A-high straight busted in holdem by a guy with pocket 7s??
How many time do you win the hand and still lose money? |

[/ QUOTE ] Limit California lowball with the stupid rules is better off dead, but NL 2-7 is a great game.
