Definitely. If he had a king, he'd likely 3-bet you on the flop; then you can think about slowing down. I'd have played it the same way. -b |

Re: Pocket 77s, with the board paired
well played, he does not have a king. I think it's a close call on the river between checking and betting, how loose does this guy call em?

Re: Pocket 77s, with the board paired
I'd check behind.
He did raise preflop, he could easily have a pair bigger than your if he is calling you down. You will get a call from an unimproved AQ, but thats about the only hand you can beat. |

Re: Pocket 77s, with the board paired
I play it exactly the same.
A river bet has no value here as he isnīt folding 88+ and he wont call with ace-high. |

Re: Pocket 77s, with the board paired
It looks like good play all the way down to me. I think you'll often lose this showdown to a higher PP, though.
Now that I think about it, I wonder how an alternate play of checking through the turn and calling a river bet if no ace falls would compare EV-wise. Hmmmm... It all has to do with how often your opponent will call the turn bet with something like AQo, flush draw, etc., and bet on the river with ace-high when the turn checks through. Re: Pocket 77s, with the board paired
Perfectly played in my opinion. You get information on the flop and then check behind on the river avoiding a trap when you dont really have a value bet either.

Re: Pocket 77s, with the board paired
He ended up having ATo and I won the pot.
So the story had a happy ending Thanks for your posts |
