Default How does 5/10 compare to 10/20

I've only been six-maxing a month but I"m looking to the future looking to move up in the next monthish or something depending on how things continue. Remember I dropped from 15/30 after playing bad there for months (all pretext of runnning bad was gone after the first month), so I'm fairly confortable with decent size swings and would be looking to move back up as quickly as my play permits.

Since I've been playing 5/10 I've seen a TON of of retard play. It's a gurantee that every session I'll chuckle at someone's cards/play at least a few times. I'm not being condescending either I'm sure you all know what I'm tlaking about. Calling down with Q high, with A high on a KQxx board when the SB bet ito the PF raiser, overcalling the river with bottom pair etc etc.

How much of that is there in the 10/20? Is the game twice as hard? What? I assume it's going to be tighter and more aggressive, what else?

Not much tighter, but a lot more aggressive. Less predictable players but more retarded bluffing. Less calling with nothing on the flop. More trapping. Overall a harder game but not twice as hard.

Well stuff like this should make it intresting. Im guessing that kind of play is not the norm for you (hopefully not anyway, but I havent followed your posts until the last day or so)...but were u tilting during any of those?

You could definitly tailor that aggression to some better spots in those hands.

You'll find more aggressive retardation in the 10/20 game; and more opponents who have slighty better hand reading skills whereas their 5/10 counterparts have almost none.

That isn't how I usually play hands :-p. I probably played some more interesting ones but I want to talk about the ones I most badly misplayed so I could spend a lot of time on them and identify more leaks.

Hand 1 really the turn checkraise is the biggest thing. I decided to play the draw aggresssively but should have slowed way down when BB capped the flop since I was likely against 2pair.

Hands 2 (and 3 I think) represent something that I'm still honing in this game, and that's when to call down with a weak hand. I think the A[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] in hand 3 is a strong enough card that I should fold if my opponent bets. IN hand 2 my opponent was very agressive so I'm still looking for when the fold should be there. I think once he caps the flop he's being serious and, while I can't fold since I could easily be drawing to 6 and then 15 outs I ccan maybe find a fold on the river. Actually I'm still debating on that one, 14-1 on the river call against this opponent isn't bad.
Usually a couple times per session though I get stubborn in spots that I later think I should fold.

Hand 4 is against the same guy from hand 2. The turn cap is good, but the T not only double pairing but bring the diamond sucks. I absoltuely should have gone with my instinct that he's betting any hand I beat though.

I know it's ironic that I post about moving up the same time I post 4 misplayed hands , but I'm not planning it for tomorrow and these hands not withstanding I feel very comfortable and confident in this game right now.

The 10-20 is very beatable, but some adjustments will have to made. 5-10 is a game about value betting the [censored] our of people, at 10-20, it's more about inducing bluffs from crap hands when you have marginal holdings. You have to pick your spots to play back at people much more, as their aggressing will cost you some pots in the beggining. I found 10-20 to be a very beatable game and was happy to make the transition. It could have been doue to running bad, but i broke even over my first 14,000 hands. After i started to get the hand of it and got a good run, i had a 4.23BB/100 over 19K hands streak.

Play about 40-50k hands @ 5/10 before considering moving up. My first month @ 5/10 was sickly good too, then the downswing hit

I plan too. Liek I said I'm not planning on moving up today, just considering it for the near future. THere are still a few six max situations where I need quite a bit of work.
