body odor
Is it ever acceptable to let someone know they have bad body odor? In such a circumstance what do you say without being too overbearing or rude? Is it possible the person really believes they dont smell bad? What if they tell you deodorant is against their personal beliefs...How do you handle being in confined areas with this person

Re: body odor
Tell "your friend" that he needs to take a damned shower and quit the bullshit about not wearing deodorant. You smell like ass. Clean yourself, dammit!

Re: body odor
I have an uncle that really stinks. My grandad (his father in law) used to call him Stinky. And evertime he'd come in the house, Grandad would run to the kitchen and come back spraying Lysol all over the place. One time he put a clothes pin on his nose.

Re: body odor
Somebody I work with is a bit 'special' and always stinks. When she gets too bad, someone will tell her she needs a shower. She is never offended because, as already mentioned, she's a bit 'special'.

Re: body odor
How can deodorant be against someone's personal beliefs? That's quite possibly the most retarded thing I've ever heard. I guess they could be French, but still...

[/ QUOTE ] this is definitely not about a specific experience, ive just encountered this situation a lot and am wondering if it can be resolved rather than whispering behind someones back about how awful they smell. |

Re: body odor
You're not doing them any favors by not saying anything. I would try to be as polite as possible and explain that they have a condition.

Re: body odor
People from the midwest will routinely say, "someone has b.o." in mixed company. Hanging out with people who smell like ass is against my personal beliefs. |
