Default Ultra-short blind levels in MTTs and their effect on hand selection

The local riverboat has weekly $25 and $100 MTTs that I'm absolutely DROOLING over - they're FILLED with Johnny Farmboy types who came in to blow their weekly crop dividend on the slots and thought "ol' poka" might be nice for a change. There's just one thing that worries me: the blind levels double every 10 minutes, 25-50/50-100/100-200 and so on. I've learned how to deal with anywhere from 5 to 10 minute levels in online SnG's, but how do nanolevels affect MTT play? Should I open up my hand selection preflop, same as if I was semi-shortstacked against an impending blind increase, or should I play my typical long-form tournament game?
