Getting to the showdown
Villain had checkraised the turn the last three times we had been heads up in similar situations and both times I folded, so I don't know if he had anything or not.
Hero is CO with A[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 7[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] PREFLOP: Hero open-raises, 2 folds, BB calls. FLOP:(2 players) 2 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 3 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 6 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] BB checks, Hero bets, BB calls. TURN: (2 players) 3 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] BB checks, Hero checks (intending to call a river bet) 1) How's my line? To my surprise, Villain checked the river. I felt confident my line was best at the time, but his check really made me think about this situation. 2)Against an opponent who will not virtually always bet the river in this situation (regardless of his cards), checking behind on the turn becomes a significant mistake because I miss so much value with my Ace high hands, right? Thanks, Cartman |

Re: Getting to the showdown
Intentions were good, but I think that the combination of the dryness of the board plus the 3 pairing mean that you will get bluff CR'ed often enough that you can bet and call down the CR (I may be off here depending on which stakes you're playing, but the previous pattern also encourages/indicates bluff checkraising).
[ QUOTE ] 2)Against an opponent who will not virtually always bet the river in this situation (regardless of his cards), checking behind on the turn becomes a significant mistake because I miss so much value with my Ace high hands, right? [/ QUOTE ] No, not too significant: less than half a big bet. The cost of folding to a turn CR incorrectly is 4BB, or calling it down incorrectly 2-3BB. |
