Default £ and $ at IC + skins

I recall I read somewhere that someone said one should avoid the £-tables at IC due to the rake. Why?

If we assume 1£ = 2$, then you would cap the rake at 3£ when the pot reaches 60£. It`ll be 3$ for a 60$ pot. So in terms of % it`s the same, isn`t it?

However, if we compare a $-table and a £-table that has the same average pot in terms of $ (ie, the $-table is a higher limit than the £-table), then the $-table would be better if the £-rake * 2 would be higher than the rake cap.

Example:
1.75£ rake = 3.5$
1.75£ / 0.05 = 35£ = 70$
This means that as long as the rake is below 1.5£ at the £-table, it makes no difference if you play at the £-table or the $-table when pot is the same in terms of $. But if the rake reaches 1.75£, then it would be better to play on the higher limit $-table since the rake would be lower.

Correct?

In response to your question: no, you are not correct.

Imagine playing in a 8-16 dollar game and in a 5-10 pound game. In terms of dollar value both games produce equivalent pot sizes. However, in the dollar game, the house takes a 3 dollar rake. In the pound game, the house takes an equivalent 4.5 dollar rake. I avoid pound games like a plague

Hmm...
How can that be true if they both produce the same pot in terms of dollar? Then the percentages would be the same, unless the rake is capped, which is exactly what I wrote. Or?

Say the pot is 40$ in both games.

Pound table:
40$ = 20£
20£ * 0.05 = 1£ = 2$

Dollar table:
40$ * 0.05 = 2$ = 1£ = same as pound table.

As long as the (pound rake) * (exchange rate) isn`t greater than the $ rake cap (3$), then it doesn`t matter which table you choose to play on, does it? If you cap the rake at both games, then the £-table is much worse, yes, but as long as the rake on the pound table is kept at max 1.5£, it´s no difference. At least none that I can see.

I have no particular desire to debate this issue. If you insist upon believing the 3 dollar max rake corresponds to the 3 pound max rake so be it

I think the point was that the rake was capped at 1.5 Euros...not 3 Euros...

I do not know, since i never play Euros, but I am pretty sure he is saying that they do not charge 3 Euros...whether that is true or not, and I dont' think he is... because everyone and his brother would be jumping at a good game with a 1.5Euro or about $2+ something rake?

Well then let`s end this discussion here since you do not understand what I`m trying to say.
