Foxwoods Acts and Satellites over the weekend...poorly organized?
I was there on Saturday to try to win my way into the main event and it was a madhouse. One had to expect a ton of people, and I did.
I didn't expect it to be that poorly organized though. At one point as I was sitting there waiting, there were four empty tables with dealers sitting around twiddling their thumbs...for about fifteen minutes. Don't they make money off the Acts and Satellites? Isn't it in their best interests to have the tables going at all times? Why couldn't they have started to call a game when the previous game at that table got down to two or three rather than waiting until it was over? Call the list, get your ten people, get the payment taken care of, and tell them to wait at the table. If they aren't at the table when it starts they're blinded out until they show. Get the new games started mere moments after the old one ends rather than the fifteen minutes or more that it was taking. Am I nuts? |

Foxwoods is proof positive that the New England area needs at least one more poker room.

I don't undertsand why Mohegan Sun doesn't reopen their room. I guess the little old ladies pumping the slots is more EV.

On the other hand, having a poker room means getting business that you wouldn't get otherwise. No way I'd drive to foxwoods to play BJ or machines. But, no probs driving down there to play poker. They probably realize this, and cater to it, even though it ain't their highest margin game. It also probably explains why the room is so ineptly run. Poker's a lot more labor intensive than offering machines, but it's probably going to pay less. Being the only room in town, all Foxwoods has to do is offer a minimum level of service to get the maximum number of poker customers. Seems like that's precisely what they're doing. |
