I like the play if you think he is raising with air, or if you know him to be a solid player and is capable of folding a hand like middle pair bad kicker. If your opponent sucks then you are just spewing. I checkfold this if he calls you. There isn't much you're beating if he is willing to call this down.

isn't the default against an unknown to air on the side of caution, so check fold would be the best play at this point in time?

i dont know, but noone has shown any kind of interest in this pot and im pretty sure a lot of players would bet just about anything on the button after the flop and turn have been checked around

I think a check fold is better here...

bah. There's only 3 BB in the pot when it gets to you. Sure, the guy could be stealing. But you're going to have to be right an awful lot.

Note in particular that there are some draws he can have that might call the turn raise. For example, if he has JT, he'll call your raise. Now what? Did he call with a Q, planning to call down? How will you handle the river?

It's just so ugly all around, and so expensive in this tiny pot, that I'd just fold. Raising is better than calling though, since he may have "nothing" and may fold as much as a ten outer to your raise.

good luck.

It's such a small pot, it's probably not worth the fight. Sure, he could be bluffing, or hold a deuce, but he could have also hit his hand on the flop and underplayed it to try to get some action. I see this all the time online. He might have also had a pocket pair. I'd probably raise in a head's up game, but in a ring game (even when it becomes heads up), you're too likely to lose.
