Default AQ hand, big laydowns, see a flop or tarzan?

Seat 7 is the button
Seat 2: Villain 1 ( $9910 )
Seat 3: Villain 2 ( $15529 )
Seat 5: Hero ( $12652 )
10 handed
Blinds (400/800)
** Dealing down cards **
Dealt to Hero [ Qs Ad ]
2 folds.
Villain 1 calls [800].
Villain 2 raises [2200].
1 fold.
Hero..?

Average stack is about 10k, the rest of the table has a few shorties and one big stack of about 20k to act after us, the bubble JUST burst last hand and it was a typical party tighty bubble.

This is a $20 buyin tourney.

Villain 2 seems like a solid, tricky player. No reads on Villain 1. What are their hand ranges and what is the proper play here?

I really don't like AQo very much in general, so I'd probably pass. Of course, you ARE a bit shortstacked. I don't think calling is an option simply because you have someone still to act, and I don't like calling off 17% of your chips with AQo, when you're only flopping an A or a Q a third of the time. I think

1) Fold
.......
2) Re-raise
3) Call

With a loooong way between fold and re-raise. I simply loathe AQo with other people having show me aggression first.

easy fold - at best youre a 33% chance but most likely you are dominated with qs, kings, aces or ak

There's no way I call here. This goes to my reads on whether to push fold. I hate AQ but that doesn't mean it's not a solid hand.

Considering they are fairly early position I fold this barring any reads. You say Villian 2 has been solid and this pushes me closer to a fold.

The more I think about this the more I'm folding with pushing a distant second. Calling isn't an option to me.

Gap Principle. One has shown some strength, raiser says his hand is better, plus has a stack which can put you out should it get that far, which 3 handed at this stage certainly can. So where does that put yours? AQ is a good hand, a good hand to be first in, and a damn good hand to kill you.

Easy, easy fold, regardless of reads. Even LAGs get hands.

Relatively short stacked? 2K over average? Sheesh, give me an average stack all the way into the money, please. "To live, you must be willing to pull the trigger." Just make sure the gun isn't pointed at your head.

I started a post yeaterday with AQ on the button, with only one raiser. I re-raised all-in and got busted against AK. My BAD.

Same situation happended last night in a 20+2, but this time I passed. You don't want to risk it all with AQ, you will go all-in only if you are fairly certain that you will take it down without a showdown.

Wait for a better spot. Save your money and steal blinds with 89s, it's better than calling this.

If you can put the villain on a hand you are ahead of call/raise, but do you really, in your heart of hearts, think he is putting in a re-raise with AJ?

it's only a raise over a limp. from a "tricky" player it could be a light raise. i think it's a fold, but i think it's close. hero only has 15 bb's.

Quite right. I thought it was a re-raise over an initial raise. Hmmm, that does open things up.

If the villain has been doing this a lot, I would be tempted to shove, and with AK it seems like a no-brainer. But when called AQ is too often dominated. If you had a decent pair (88-QQ) put it all in. FE + Coin Flip + Dead Money make it worth it. AA or KK, make a normal re-raise.

AQ, muck.
