Re: Last hand in 45k guarantee. Bad or OK move?
I knew I was behind on the flop, that's why I think it is a bad push on the flop. I could call, but then I've put in half my stack, not sure if I'm pot committed, but if I fold, I have 3 rounds of blinds and antes before I'm at zero. Thoughts? The place I really think I butchered the hand was preflop, he would have folded to my raise for sure.

Why do you overbet the pot first to act?

[ QUOTE ] Push preflop [/ QUOTE ] I push preflop, but you could make a smaller raise. I don't like the complete. The flop bet was not technicallly an overbet. It was about pot sized. When you are raised it is pretty much read dependent. Would he only do that if he had you beat? Villain could have a worse paired hand, a draw, or be bluffing. This is heads up. Still, when you bet pot and get raised, you could consider folding. |

I would have raised preflop, but assuming I didn't...
Bet looks good, villian raises basically saying "I got a queen". Your reraise was a nice shot at trying to steal a pot, but it really depends on the reads you got from him. If you think he is willing to drop top pair bad kicker to a reraise like that, then go for it. If he seems to call down people too much, then I'd probably fold knowing I am probably beat. But you did have some decent outs there at least if he does have a queen, which would likely be 2 Ts, 3 J's, and 4 9's. Basically, same thing as reraising all in on a flush draw, would you do that? I'd say OK move, not really bad if you thought he would fold there, and if he does call and you hit an out, you have a shot at taking out the big stack who is a heavy favorite right now to both of your shorter stacks. Biggest mistake is not raising pf IMO, JT is good shorthanded. |
