Default Balls on the Wall - early MTT play

$20+2 @ Stars.

this is one of the first 10 hands of the MTT. i limped in trying to see a cheap flop.

PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em Tourney, Big Blind is t20 (9 handed) converter

saw flop|saw showdown

UTG+1 (t970)
MP1 (t1490)
MP2 (t1430)
MP3 (t1520)
Hero (t1400)
Button (t1230)
SB (t1380)
BB (t2510)
UTG (t1510)

Preflop: Hero is CO with 9[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], J[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img].
3 folds, MP2 calls t20, 1 fold, Hero calls t20, 1 fold, SB completes, BB checks.

Flop: (t80) 8[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], 7[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], K[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (4 players)
SB checks, BB bets t40, MP2 folds, Hero raises to t160, SB folds, BB calls t120.

Turn: (t400) 3[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (2 players)
BB checks, Hero bets t180, BB calls t180.

River: (t760) A[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (2 players)
BB checks, Hero bets t1040 (All-In), BB ?.

Final Pot: t1800

well i didn't hit anything but tried to steal it on the flop. that didn't work. oh well he's still showing weakness so i'll fire again on the turn. now the river...he's still weak, can i take this pot? i thought for a while and decided if i'm gonna bet i gotta bet all-in. is this whole hand way to balls on the wall for one of the first hands of an MTT?

If he keeps calling you, he is not showing weakness. It generally not a good idea to bluff early in an MTT or to put a lot of chips in without a big hand.

hate it on every street pretty much.

Problem with these monotone flops is that you will often get called by Ac x. Oh well, hope his x wasnt a 8 7 or 3

You can find much better, safer spots to bluff. You basically commited your whole stack trying to take him off a 120 chip pot on the flop.

i limp with alot of hands early. with T1,500 chips and T20 blinds I think I can afford to loosen up.

as for the rest of the hand i think it's a little too aggressive.

With a lot of loose players, if there were already like 5 limpers in the pot, I might limp with J9o for the implied odds of hitting a straight, two pair or something. If I think people will go allin with little, I am getting tremendous implied odds. However, in this case there is not a multiway pot, so I think calling with J9o is as fishy as the rest of your play this hand.
