Re: 100+9 STT AK
I voted push. There are enough chips in the middle that I would want to take this pot down right now if I can, since I am relatively shortstacked. Also I would like to take this hand HU as well, so that you have the best chance of winning the hand.
The only way I would not push is if I felt that the CO's miniraise almost certainly meant AA or KK. |

Re: 100+9 STT AK
Minraise at partypoker screams AA/KK. Be careful.

Re: 100+9 STT AK
If it is AA or KK and you call what are you going to do on the flop? Are you willing to give up a quarter of your stack 2/3rds of the time? And if it is AA and you hit you lose your whole stack anyways. You need to push here you cannot be affraid of monsters.

Re: 100+9 STT AK
I push and try to get the c/o "heads up". There is already t650 in the pot and I have t760 left by the time it gets back to me. I realize I'm taking a chance the c/o could have AA or KK but the odds are against that. I'm thinking that it is more likely QQ or AK. I'll take my chances with a split pot or coin flip if I can get BB to fold by pushing.

Re: 100+9 STT AK
I agree with the idea that at Party this screams AA or KK. The odds are not in favor of it in a vacuum. But that's not what's in my head when I see this. I see this as giving you a raise that's hard NOT to call. I almost voted fold because of the frequency at which I see this.
The only reason I call is to see how they play the flop. I do, however see the logic of pushing. If you're going to be scared of an A or K that flops, you should either push or fold preflop. But, if rags flop and he bets big, ou can get away still holding more than 10xBB. |

Re: 100+9 STT AK
Well I pushed. I was more afraid of the BB who cold-called 2 raisers then the CO. Both of them called. Sure enough CO had QQ, and BB had AA. CO won with a Q on the flop to make a boat.
This hand got me thinking. The odds that one of the 2 opponents had me dominated (AA or KK) I think were pretty darn high given their plays (and the fact that this was a $109 STT and you don't see as much maniac plays here). Granted if you win you're sitting pretty but I would put the odds of winning at less than 40% and I think I have a better chance of finishing ITM with a fold here, in retrospect. |
