Question for Seattle Area Dealers
I've gotta find something else to do. I know that dealing doesn't bring in a lot of $$$, but I've been wanting to deal poker for a while. Where did you get your training, how would you rate it, and how much $$$ did you pay? While I'm used to making low six figures, I'm burned out and need something else.

Re: Question for Seattle Area Dealers
I'm in roughly the same boat, on the East Coast. I'd appreciate answers for anywhere -- especially AC and other Eastern sites, but also Vegas, Cali, wherever.
Maybe I should try the search. |

Hey, scope creep isn't just for consulting projects any more.
Well, Seattle's nice, I'd move there.... so hopefully you'll get some answers. 'Til then, I'm happy to keep bumping it to the top. Sorry about the hijack though. |

Back to the original OP though, I'm really not sure I would want to be a dealer in the seattle area. I've talked to a few at the larger card rooms and mostly they started as a brush and suffered through the year of hell. |

No schools really teach it up here from what I've heard. Not well anyways. Seems you need to find a dealer to show the the main points then go from there. Or just ask dealers and floor people how to do it. They would know. b |

Re: Question for Seattle Area Dealers
FOr me, I went to dealing school in Vegas. The poker class was 5 weeks for 700 bucks. The school I went to (Casino Gaming School) has a strong reputation so it was easy to get auditions.
Word of advice: make sure it's something you'll love cause it does get repetitive. Personally I love dealing poker, so going to work is fun...I work on the strip and at my current rate, I should make 40-50K a year. |
