1-2 NL. Live, 5 handed. Amazingly loose and soft...side game after a firehouse tournament. Villian is a amazingly loose player who might have ATC post-flop. He bluffs like crazy and makes bad calls...two hands ago he called a post-flop all-in w/ nothing..no pair and no draw...lost to ace high. I've been raising a lot pre-flop but not getting too out of line. I have $25, Villian has me covered (more on stack sizes in a minute).
SB posts $1, BB posts $2, Villian calls, EP2 folds, I make it $6 on button with A4o. SB folds, BB folds, Villian calls. ($15) Flop is 233. Villian bets $4. I move all-in for $19 more. Thoughts? Results: He has 82 and called. I spike a 4 on the river to double up. Now, stack sizes. I busted out of the tournament and desperately wanted to get a cash game going. Everyone wanted to play $1-2 NL, but no one wanted to buy-in for more than $20. It was really weird. I bought in for $50 and they were outraged. After running it up to about $90, I cashed out and rebought for $25 by demand of the table. What are your thoughts on this? It was really tough making adjustments and I just felt really strange.... |

Standard postflop. What an awful structure.

I would say your play is consistant at least. Your preflop raise is so big that your attitude is your A is in the lead at that point and that flop is perfect to push on in that case.
I think when you're against a player like you describe you shouldn't be looking to get that one hand all in against him where you have a huge lead. You want to pressure him and grind it out with bigger than normal value bets and let him take a shot at you and call him down with a top pair on a draw heavy board. |

I tried. It was really strange-- people didn't think we had enough chips (seriously, not enough poker chips. i would have used potato chips to play this crowd) to play .25-.50. When I explained that we could make the different color chips different values, people told me that would be too confusing.
