Default Well, it finally happened! (O8)

I was playing an online O8 sit-n-go and was dealt the magic quad aces. Yep:

A[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] A[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] A[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] A[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]

By that time it was 5 handed and I decided to semi(?)-bluff pound, as has been advocated here in the past. Perhaps miraculously, it worked. The blinds called before the flop, but both were gone by the turn (which conveniently enabled a low down to a 3, making my obvious "A2" the nut low).

Just wanted to let people know that purely theoretical hands do, once in an eclipsing blue moon, come up.

I had a hand of limit O8 several months back that I made my second set of quads (in the same hand) on the turn. I had QQJJ double suited in red, flopped quad jacks with JJQ, and improved to quad queens on the turn.

The best part is that although I didn't lose, by the river I didn't even have the nuts! The ten of spades hit on the river and made anyone with 89, K9, or AK of spades a straight flush.

The sad part was that I had the deck crippled, no low was possible on the flop, and I won a crappy little pot. ;-)

I have flopped quads aces twice today.
I played almost 1500 hands today. All O8 of course.

Second time I flopped quads aces a guy had full house kings over aces. Men, he was sorry to see them

Correct. I was dealt four aces, which is a modest (at best) O8 hand, but top notch for bluffing value. Igf it comes to a showdown, you are playing for top pair, two pair, or maybe an overboat (with trips on the board).

That wins a fairly small X% of the time overall. Anybody have any guess about how often AA with no help holds up to scoop at O8? That is, what's "X"?

I don't think that it can be the guaranteed nuts except when the board has quads AND an undercard (e.g., KKKKQ for top boat, but not QQQQK since you'll be outboated by KK).

Ironically, the bluff value is best when a low is possible, which kills your scoop potential.

It's just a theoretical exercise, really, but it did happen to me.
