($6) Push AK after lots of limpers
Lost the HH, sorry.
Level 3 (blinds 25/50) Stacks are all more or less 1500, with one at 3000 (not me) 6 (!) limpers to me in the BB. I have AKo. I push. Thoughts? |

Blinds are too small. You don't need to push. Make it 350 or something.

Re: ($6) Push AK after lots of limpers
i think its great push. if you will, a PVS with much better performance if you are called. This is something i do alot with AK in the blinds after limps, as i dont really like playing AK out of position, especially not after taking impetus. As for making it t350 to go...blah. If someone limps, and is willing to call 350, they are calling a push. Get the money in NOW, so you see all five board cards, and nullify you positional handicap. Nothing like making it 7BB to go, get called, flop QT4, you lead another 7BB, he calls...you know the story.
As to the response [ QUOTE ] Blinds are too small. [/ QUOTE ] I dont like that thinking. BECAUSE they are only in for t50, you will usually take this without seeing a flop. |

I would idealy like to get 1 caller. The stacks are deep enough to actually play some real poker. Sure, taking down the 300 or so chips in the pot now would be nice, but you have a premium hand. Why not try to get a worse hand to put his money into the pot with you? |

Who said I want to take this without seeing a flop? [/ QUOTE ] I dont believe anyone said that. What im saying is that you SHOULD want to take this without seeing a flop. Or at least, be happy taking it, and if Plan B happens, then your cards matter, and AK will do well. Im all for playing poker, but not out of position versus poorly defined hand ranges. And DEFINATELY not when theres SIX BBs of dead money avaliable. |

Re: ($6) Push AK after lots of limpers
The size of the blinds definately matters. If the blinds were 1/2 with 1500 stacks, obviously you'd be an idiot to push even with 6BB of dead money in the pot. I believe that with 30BB, you have enough to play real poker. If you disagree with that, that's your decision.
