Default Ante structure in Stud

I have a question about antes in stud and stud/8. I've noticed that the antes are higher at Stars than PP. But when you play live are the ante structure usually the similiar? Are the antes always proportionaly higher at higher limits? And when reading the posted hands here at the forum, are you supposed to know the ante structure (like 75/150 at Taj Mahal), I mean is it common knowledge to know about the ante, and what are the usual structure at the higher limits in AC and Vegas?

Default Re: Ante structure in Stud

Live Ante Structures (Commonly Used)

1-3, 1-5 (no ante)

5-10 (50 cent ante, $2 force)

10-20 ($1 ante, $3 force)

15-30 ($2 ante, $5 force)

20-40 ($3 ante, $5 force)

30-60 ($5 ante, $10 force)

75-150 ($15 ante, $25 force)

I'm not sure about higher...but as you can see, starting at 15-30, antes are proportionally higher as you move up. This is to handicap the stud experts a bit against the idiots and to create more action. It makes the game much more complex to play than simply, play tight as hell. Mason Malmuth has written essays on the topic.

Online strucures are diff than live...20-40 is often spread with a $2 ante which sucks and ultimately cripples action as live ones go broke too fast and the game tightens up.
