pot/fold equity
On this post, Roland talks about pot equity and fold equity. Once I figured out he wasn't asking me about my stash, I did a little research to help me understand this concept. I understand pot odds, but I haven't read much about pot equity. I didn't see any mention of if in Theory of Poker or SCSFAP. I've found this definition, which helps, but I'm still a little hazy (probably becuase my pot equity is almost every day, but I'm trying to cut down before work). Anyway, I thought this might be an intersting forum topic.

Re: pot/fold equity
Pot equity is just the size of the pot multiplied by the chance you'll win it. For example, you have $60 in pot equity if the total pot is $100 and you have a 60% chance of winning.
At the table, I rarely try to estimate my pot equity. It is pretty useful for analyzing what your best play is in a hand though. |

Re: pot/fold equity
another way of saying it is that if you are 30% to win a pot, you have good pot equity if there are 5 people in the hand because you are only putting in 20% of the money. When you are in this spot it may be a good time to jam the pot.
