AQ UI, I don\'t know why I do these things
This table has actually been fairly tight and I'm fairly new. I haven't seen villain show down a hand, so no reads.
Ultimate Bet 0.25/0.50 Hold'em (5 handed) FTR converter on zerodivide.cx Preflop: Hero is UTG with A[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], Q[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]. Hero raises, 1 fold, Button calls, SB calls, 1 fold. Without reads, I don't see a problem.

Re: AQ UI, I don\'t know why I do these things
I get myself into these situations a lot to. I bet a semi-ragged flop and get called, pick up something like a gutshot or another draw and decide to semi-bluff and get called, then river blanks and I check and have to fold to a bet.
The thing that bugs me is I feel like my opponent would bet in this spot with anything sometimes because they know the jig is up. I guess I might have to call down aggressives and fold to passives. hands like this bug me. |

Re: AQ UI, I don\'t know why I do these things
very nice hand. against some donks at 6-max you will be check calling the river. usually at full ring you fold.
too many players will peel the flop with QJ/Q9/KJ/KQ/etc for you to not bet the turn. plus you have a gutshot. so your equity + your fe make this a good bet. |

Re: AQ UI, I don\'t know why I do these things
The possibility that Villain has a worse ace and called the turn with an overcard + wheel draw kind of makes me want to call the river.
I think you're most likely beat, though, and your play seems all right to me. Among other things, it's entirely possible that the jack on the river hit Villain. Edit: I didn't notice it was 5-handed. I think that makes me a little more inclined to call the river. |

Re: AQ UI, I don\'t know why I do these things
Anyone like betting the river to represent a big pocket pair? I don't really because it works very rairly on Party at that limit. I don't mind calling the river to see what villian is playing. If he put you on a big ace he could be trying to push you off of ace high, but chances are you're done.

Re: AQ UI, I don\'t know why I do these things
I usually bet/fold the river here on a more draw heavy flop that missed, but I guess you're line is fine since the jack probably hit him...most microdonks will call down with any pocket pair here also.

[/ QUOTE ] The thing is at .25/.5 most players aren't bothering to put people on hands they just see their cards and what they have and don't often try to push people off A high. I really wouldn't be surprised if the J hit him or he had top pair on the flop and feared a big pair. Well played. I sometimes pay him off on the river but not without some sort of read. |
