Empire 15k. About 50-60 players left, 30 pay.
Blinds are 75/150. Guy (T3800) limps UTG (this guy seemed kind of bad so this isn't suspicious) Another limps behind, and I make it 750 from the CO (i have about 5500). SB (T2400) calls (i didn't have a great read on this guy, but the call for a third of his chips seems odd, but he could just be bad as well) UTG calls as well, 3 to the flop 2300 in the pot. Flop is 249r They both check. I check (mistake?) Turn is a 6 putting 2 hearts out. They both check again. I bet 1500 (bigger mistake?) |

Yes you made a mistake with the absence of a continuation bet on a ragged board. Overbetting the turn convinces A6 to call for his remaining chips. Hmm, maybe not. Maybe the overbet was the only way to get A6 to fold here... OK, I like the turn bet, but I don't get why you check the flop? I do check the flop with AK if 89T falls, but why would you ever check a ragged flop?

Basically I checked becasue I didn't like the call from the SB. It seems like a middle pair that didn't want to race, but I couldn't imagine that hand checking twice so figured I just wanted to take it down on the turn and not give random whatevers a chance to catch something, while maybe folding weak pairs that don't want to call off their stack.

Hmm, I understand that. But when that happens to me, I usuaully make a conscious decision to not put another dime into the pot. Your stop and go will have the opposite of the desired effect - weaker hands now willing to push back at you/call. The play of this hand has now become confused and looks confused. Players should/normally sense weakness in you here. In my experience, anyway.

I just finished up quadding a set of 55 SNG's. In one, I raised AKs to 60 in MP on level 1 and got one caller, an SB I'd played with before, who was definitely a TAG.
Flop Q73, we check. Turn 3, we check. River blank, he pushes, I fold. Against this guy, that was standard. Against two random fish, I bet the flop, third of their stack or not. On the bubble, I go ahead and put him all in. |

SB goes all-in with his JJ, I call the mandatory couple hunderd and don't suckout on the river chopping my averagish stack in half.
I bust out an orbit or so later with A5 vs A8 after my blind steal is a called and the flop comes A24. |
