Re: i need my site to be found via yahoo/google etc
But for real, what kind of a site do you have? If you don't know how to get the search engines to recognize your site, I assume you haven't made the site by your self. Try asking your webmaster for help. It's an piece of cake for someone who knows what to do. You don't need to fill any forms etc.

Reverse engineering search algorithms and then seeding websites for top google hits isn't exactly easy.... |

Re: i need my site to be found via yahoo/google etc
The best way is to get links on other sites that are already in yahoo and google. That can be done via e-mailing them and asking the webmaster to put a link on their site and you'll put one on yours (reciprocal link exchange) or by buying a text link on their site (banners are less effective for both clicks and for this purpose). The actual link text they use This Is Link Text is also important. It's better to use keywords rather than the site url http://www.google.com.
On your site you should make the title of each page be unique and have keywords in it. Do not put your site name or company name in the title! It's one of the biggest mistakes made on the web. So a title like <title>No Limit Holdem Strategy</title> for your no limit page is good. Remember that each page should have a title that describes that page so you shouldn't have any titles that are the same - another extremely common mistake made on the web. Next you want a Heading tag that has your keywords. This should be a heading describing the surrounding text. So something like <H1>No Limit Holdem Preflop Strategy</h1> would be good. Then after that you would want a paragraph of text that uses those keywords a few times. How many times is anyones guess and there's no magic bullet answer. Now a good thing you can do is to make a link in that paragraph leading to another section - such as Next learn about <a href="ontheflop.html">No Limit Holdem Flop Strategies</a>. And your flop strategies page would follow a similar format. Use ALT tags for all images. Try to use keywords if they apply to the image. If the image is for background or layout purpose use <img src="border_left.jpg" ALT="">. Basically that's about all there is to it (to get started). The most important thing is to get links from other sites (but not "link farm" sites that are nothing but a bunch of links). Check out http://www.searchengineforums.com/ap...orum::seo-101/ (don't ever put your URL in a post there though, they'll yell at you) and http://www.sitepoint.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=3 http://www.sitepoint.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=177 |

Re: i need my site to be found via yahoo/google etc
To see how many pages of your site google has indexed go there and type:
site:forumserver.twoplustwo.com Results 1 - 10 of about 128,000 from forumserver.twoplustwo.com - that's pretty damn good To see how many other sites google thinks link to yours go there and type: link:www.twoplustwo.com Results 1 - 10 of about 2,720 linking to www.twoplustwo.com - that's pretty good too. To see google, yahoo, msn all in one go to: http://www.marketleap.com/publinkpop/ Oh and try to submit your site to DMOZ |

Re: i need my site to be found via yahoo/google etc
You are correct. One thing you should do is not just have links on your link page, put a sentence or two about the site your linking to (content is always good).
<a href="http://www.twoplustwo.com">Poker Forum and Books</a> The largest and most informative poker forum on the internet. They also publish the best poker books. Something like that. |

Re: i need my site to be found via yahoo/google etc
How is the website being updated? Do you have to edit it yourself or does the guy do it for you? I'd look into getting a Content Management System installed(ie: Geeklog) to make it almost as easy as running Outlook or MS Word.
