Difference between Party .5/1 and 1/2 ?
How close are these games? Someone once said that 1/2 was actually much tougher since it was mostly people who built a bankroll at .5/1 and moved up, whereas 2/4 was a different set of players... Does this sound right? Is .5/1 comparable to 1/2 or is it a quick move in quality?

Re: Difference between Party .5/1 and 1/2 ?
I can't speak for Party, but as a general rule there is quite a difference in quality because you lose all the "fun" players who just want to play the lowest limits available.
Having said that, unless you are just a tiny winner at .5/1, 1/2 should be beatable too, and you will never know if you don't try. Waiting until tomorrow might be a good ploy, as that is when the buyin bonus starts. Lori Lori |

Re: Difference between Party .5/1 and 1/2 ?
I've only been playing online maybe two months, but I do ok at .5/1... I think I will attempt to move up soon, just wondering if I should be watching for anything specific. I don't want to say I beat .5/1 for huge amounts, but I do ok. Started well, got too confident, took a few steps back and now I'm on track again. But I also wonder if playing a step up will make me less agressive. I'm definitely more apt to fire a last bet into the pot now, if I think I can fold an opponent. But those are my own bankroll considerations and not really relevent to the question I started with...

Re: Difference between Party .5/1 and 1/2 ?
I think a small problem with Party at that level is that the rake is pretty steep for some small pots as its raked .5 at $5 whereas at Paradise the rake doesn't hit .5 until $10.

Re: Difference between Party .5/1 and 1/2 ?
Another difference is table selection. Party has none at 1/2, usually 1 or none during normal working hours and maybe 2 during the evenings and weekends. That's a problem if you need a certain style of table for your style of play. If you want to play 1/2 where it is loose goto the pokerroom their minimum is 1/2, so it plays like party's 50./1 with double the payoff.

Party usually has several 1/2 games. Right now (1:00 pm PDT) they have 4 regular tables with 10, 10, 8, and 8 players seated, as well as 4 6 max tables with 6 players at each. |

Re: Difference between Party .5/1 and 1/2 ?
Lefty is right (that sounds strange), Jimbo, at least during off peak times 1/2 is not as popular as 50/1 or 2/4.
Oh yea and I found 1/2 at Party to be unusually hard - I find the best bets are the $25 No Limit tables and $10 + $1 at that site. I would seriously consider giving 50/1 a miss at Party because of the 50c rake, like somebody else mentioned. |

Re: Difference between Party .5/1 and 1/2 ?
duxDeluxe it is 8PM CST and there are 12 tables of 1/2 and 22 tables of .50/1.00 going right now. I do not see where Lefty is anywhere near correct. Not that it matters, people can always log on and look for themselves, it only takes a few seconds.

Re: Difference between Party .5/1 and 1/2 ?
I was talking full ring tables not the shorttable 1/2 games. They usually only have about 2 or 3 in the evenings, maybe the traffic has increased since I last looked? If you include short then they do have upto 10.....
