Default 54s and a river donking

aside from preflop (explained below) i would appreciate your thoughts.

i have been quite fortunate and have been running very well at this point and up ~22 bbs and showing down strong hands. the limp was a change of pace (quite out of my norm).

co and button are non-descript 20/7 types

Come on you know you can't limp this PF. Whatever.

On the river call and hope MP1 raises so you can go for a super sexy checkraise. Even if MP1 doesn't raise you still can get overcalls.

I hate myself. I need to end this thread. I suck. Nuff said. Sorry for wasting your precious time.

5/10 has a bit more tricky players but....

is still g00t

moral of story is... don't open limp 54s!

you know how every once in a while you actually feel as though "instant karma's gonna get you," well... let's look

limped 54s and then was presented with g00t odds to call both the flop and turn. someone/thing made me raise the river so that i would lose 3 more bbs.

everything is for a purpose!

I guess I'll be the one to say I like the raise there. You can't know this moron check-called the nuts on the turn planning to bet a huge blank on the river. Also, CO or Button could've been on diamonds or some random 2-pair draw and aren't planning on calling. MP1 seems to like his hand and may even stubbornly cold-call a raise. I really don't think this was a bad raise, I think you're just being results oriented.

Very interesting. You take a chance either way. Raising costs you several bets if the players behind you will fold for 2 but call for 1, or if someone has a hand that would have raised but only calls 2. Calling of course costs you when they havd hands that would have called 2.

Tough decision. I always raise these because I find people calling 2 so often with just top pair. The prospect of calling and then 3-betting when it's back to you though is SOOO sweet... hope you made the right decision!

Good luck.
Eric
