Default Big vs. Small Pots in NL

SSHE differentiates play or the hand depending on pot size and that with small pots you should tend to fold marginal decisions and with "big" pots to call/raise to immediatly win the pot.

In the situation where in NL and you have a post-flop decision to try and build the pot vs trying to win it right there what kind of criteria do you tend to use. Is the 5-6 BB range where you would consider it a "big" pot?
