AKs, did not hit board at all, 1/2 full
MP1 had VP$P = 34, and PFR% = 26. Ok, or no okay? Comments appreciated, thanks.

I'd probably fold the turn. Why did you call the river?

Re: AKs, did not hit board at all, 1/2 full
I think on that flop you could raise his bet. You earn some information and possibly a free look at the river. If he plays back at you, you can happily fold. I think just calling down is a little weak passive.

Re: AKs, did not hit board at all, 1/2 full
I didnt fold the turn because the pot was 9BBs. Since his VP$P = 34, and his PFR% = 26, I figured he most likely had two big face cards and didnt hit the flop or turn. Therefore I probably had 5-6 outs depending if he held an Ace/King or not, and could probably pick up the pot if a small card fell on the river.
I called the river because the pot was so large (11BB's) and felt I had a decent chance of winning it. Heres what he had. River: (10 BB) 3[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (2 players) UTG bets, Hero calls. Final Pot: 12 BB Results in white below: UTG has K[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] A[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (one pair, sixes). Hero has A[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] K[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (one pair, sixes). Outcome: UTG wins 6 B B. Hero wins 6 BB. |

He's representing the pocket pair leading into you on the flop. I would raise and see what he does. Just calling is too passive.

Re: AKs, did not hit board at all, 1/2 full
This is a clear example of how you need to use position to your absolute advantage in Holdem.
You gotta raise that flop and see what he does. If he just calls and then checks the turn I happily bet. If he calls, then just check the river behind him. You gotta take control in hands like this. In this hand if you even fired another shell on the river there is a chance he could have folded. Worse case if you raise the flop MP1 calls and you gain an extra .5 SB's out of the hand. |

Wow okay. I would never have even considered raising on the flop with position over the guy. Makes lots of sense now, thanks.

He would've gotten me - I'd fold the river for sure.
