Default NOPD shining through

Apparently, the one cop crying on TV was not an isolated case.

Cops are real people too. There were plenty of cops and firemen who lost all emotional control on 9/11 too. Some things you just can not be emotionally prepared for.

OK, you are right. I can't disagree that cops are people. My first impulse is to say that this says something about the department as a whole. Maybe it's just the leadership or lack thereof that accounts for the majority of the department not showing up or video of uniformed cops looting. Perhaps the ones that are there are breaking down because they don't have much faith in what leadership there is. Like lots of other aspects of this whole event, I think it's a great tragedy that this public institution failed at the most crucial time when it was needed the most.

You didn't see video of uniformed police looting on 9/11, though.

Default What a Bunch of P*****.

New Orleans cops are notorious for taking bribes but when a situation comes up for them to act like men and do their jobs many have completely p*** out. Disgusting....

As for the few that stayed on the job and battling the human scum that are murdering and raping their way through the city, kudos to them. I would like to wish them:

Good Hunting!

What would they have looted? It's a completely different scenario. Was a policeman going to snag a PC out of the twin towers?

The looting by police is despicable, but if many of them are simply taking necessities like water, food, or clothing, it's completely understandable.

Don't bother trying to convince him. He's used the same awful analogies multiple times.

Is it your position, then, that if given the opportunity, NYPD would have engaged in looting on 9/11?

Off topic but pasting a link this long makes this thread a whore to read.

First, yes NOLA cops might be corrupt, but...

1. As other articles have pointed out, the fact that so many police officers didn't show up to work, does not necessarily mean the "walked off the job." Some are actually missing, just as many other NOLA residents are. Missing, as in, evacuated on Sunday before the storm hit or missing as in dead or dying...

2. 9/11 was completely different. The analogy doesn't work at all.
