Default Fearing set over set: how would you play it? Maybe not so interesting.

Villain is 18/12/2.4. Over like 12000+ hands. He is a winner in the game, for about 1bb/100. He is overaggressive postflop in my opinion. We obviously have an extensive history.

Party Poker 50/100 Hold'em (9 handed) FTR converter on zerodivide.cx

Preflop: Hero is CO with 9[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], 9[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img].
5 folds, Hero raises, Button 3-bets, 2 folds, Hero caps, Button calls.

(this was not a move I usually make, but I thought that his 3-betting range was large and that I could get him to fold some hands post flop with the cap cause usually I have aa-jj, ak).

Flop: (9.50 SB) 8[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], A[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], 9[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (2 players)
Hero bets, Button raises, Hero 3-bets, Button caps, Hero calls.

Turn: (8.75 BB) T[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (2 players)
Hero bets, Button raises, Hero 3-bets, Button caps, Hero calls.

River: (16.75 BB) Q[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (2 players)
Hero checks, Button bets, Hero calls.

Final Pot: 18.75 BB

He absolutely knows that I won't go crazy against him in this spot without a very good hand.

I don't see any other way to play this.

Tells me a warning light went off in your head on the flop. I don't like giving up more than my opponent, when I have the worst hand, so I ck/raise the turn & call; then ck/call the river. Saves me a whopping 1 BB.

I play it the same. He has to have AA or 88. The turn cap shows he thinks he is better than 99. He might be overplaying A9 but even that looks far fetched.
