Default alcohol question

so supposedly your body is supposed to process "one drink" per hour. if this is true this would mean that you could drink one beer per hour for an infinite amount of hours and never be drunk. for some reason this idea seems fishy to me, and to test it i'm considering taking a day and drinking one beer per hour for 24 hours straight. does this sound like a good idea for an experiment, or just dumb?

its just dumb. plus alcohol tolerance depends on other things such as body weight, and relevant body chemistry.

I wouldn't be at all surprised if your body's ability to process alcohol decreased with a lack of sleep so you might start getting drunk around beer 22 or something- but a person can def drink a 12 pack over 7-8 hours and only be mildly drunk.

its dumb...everyones body differs in not just weight, fat content, tolerence etc but metabolism as well. Ur liver may not process things as well and just b/c its "processed" doesnt mean that its not still in ur blood! Ull eventually get alcohol posioning if done without stopping at some point

I have no idea whether or not drinking one beer an hour for 24 hours will get you drunk, but this is definitely the best idea ever.

This isn't true. Your body can oxidize a little over 1/2 of a beer per hour for an average male (or 8 grams an hour). A 5% beer (like Bud or MGD) contains ~14 grams of alcohol per can. There is varience attached to this (say +/- 30%) but the 1 beer per hour saying is just a myth. If you drink 24 beers (Bud or something like it) in a day you will be pretty drunk when all is said a done. It will be the same as drinking about 10 beers in a very short period of time. There are other factor such as sweat which can lessen the effects, but I predict that you will have a good buzz rolling after a days worth of drinking.

They do this every year at Princeton. It's called Newman's Day. People get drunk (although most finish the 24 in way less than 24 hours from what I hear).
