ahhhh, that\'s better: PokerStars background mod
I cleared out the ugly raincloud thingy from a previous poster's Stars mod and created this thing -- very easy on the eyes, i think. Right click to save it, rename it bg.jpg and drop it in the C:/Program Files/PokerStars/Gx/ (replaces the existing default bg.jpg background image)
IMPORTANT: The Stars client reloads the default images every time you run the icon that the default installation places on your desktop...so DON'T use that icon to run Stars. Instead, go into the Program Files/Pokerstars folder, and find the PokerStars.exe program AND NOT the PokerStarsUpdate.exe folder. But the former on your desktop and use THAT to run the client when you want to play. Then, every so often, backup your modified background, run the PokerStarsUpdate.exe program to check for updates, and then go back and put the mod background back in the Gx folder as described above. |

Re: ahhhh, that\'s better: PokerStars background mod
From another thread. The link has more mods.
[ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] Nope, there are no Stars skins. [/ QUOTE ] Wrong. Link to some links to get you what you need. Just make sure you follow the instructions of making a shortcut to pokerstars.exe. The desktop icon is a shortcut to pokerstarsupdate.exe which will over write your new image files, replacing them with the old ones if u run it. Just make sure to run pokerstarsupdate.exe every week or so to stay updated. [/ QUOTE ] Here is one I like a lot. |

edit: did not see the first few lines of your post?
so i can actually contribute something, here's a way to handle the updating mess. make a text file called PS.bat in your pokerstars folder. [ QUOTE ] move Gx\bg.jpg Gx\bg.jpg.bak PokerStarsUpdate.exe move Gx\bg.jpg.bak Gx\bg.jpg [/ QUOTE ] now make a shortcut to PS.bat in your start menu. voila! |

Very nice mods, I just can't stand the look of the regular poker stars background.

Re: ahhhh, that\'s better: PokerStars background mod
The mods work but when I logoff and reopen the pokerstars client, it makes me do an update that just gets rid of the mod. How do I get around this?

Re: ahhhh, that\'s better: PokerStars background mod
you have to open up pokerstars.exe directly from the directory it was created in:
X:\Program Files\PokerStars\PokerStars.exe you can create a link in the windows start menu for it, but don't forget to run the update every now and then. also be sure to make a backup of your background for later copying and pasting (as needed). |
