Default betting draws OOP on flop

I think I may be betting myself out to many hands in these situations. Would check call/raise be a better alternative?

Ultimate Bet No-Limit Hold'em, $.25 BB (9 handed) converter

UTG+1 ($28.30)
Hero ($33.75)
MP2 ($7.90)
MP3 ($9.75)
CO ($14.45)
Button ($18.32)
SB ($23.20)
BB ($72.61)
UTG ($18.95)

Preflop: Hero is MP1 with A[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], J[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img].
<font color="#666666">1 fold</font>, Hero calls $0.25, MP2 calls $0.25, MP3 calls $0.25, <font color="#666666">1 fold</font>, Button calls $0.25, <font color="#666666">1 fold</font>, BB checks.

Flop: ($1.35) 8[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], 4[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], 5[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] <font color="#0000FF">(6 players)</font>
BB checks, <font color="#CC3333">Hero bets $0.75</font>, MP2 calls $0.75, MP3 folds, <font color="#CC3333">Button raises to $4.35</font>, BB folds, Hero folds, MP2 folds.

Final Pot: $7.20
