Raising Pre-flop with multiple limpers
Could raising pre-flop with premium hands lessen the EV for them from late position with multiple limpers? Eg:
Hero has AA on the button. 7 limpers. To you. Most micro limit games all the limpers will call the raise, no matter if even the call was a shitty decision to begin with. Including the BB there are 8 bets so you call making 9 SB completes for ten bets. If you raise, SB folds(possibly) BB (50% call or fold), and all limpers call. Now you have about 17 or 18 bet pot. Shitty pre-floppers now have much better potentials for their weak draws and the pot will get so large that you can't lay down the aces because of the equity. What do you all think? |

Re: Raising Pre-flop with multiple limpers
To paraphrase from Ed Miller: You raise pre-flop to punish them for the mistake they've already made by entering this hand with garbage. The EV gain from that is greater than any EV gain you can make by keeping the pot "small" allowing them to make more mistakes postflop.

Re: Raising Pre-flop with multiple limpers
Also, with about 8 players like you said you may only have a 30% chance of winning the pot. But remember that with 8 players the average % will be 12.5 so your raise is for value.
You should raise loads of limpers with the best hands, even AKo that looks so weak |
