Turned straight flush draw.
Villain in this hand is pretty loose and semi-aggressive. When he re-raised me on the turn I figured he may have flopped a set and I could stack him on the river if I hit.

Re: Turned straight flush draw.
The question here is calling the raise on the turn. Here's what I see. If you hit one of the 3 non-diamond 3's you have the nuts. Ironically, as nice as it is to make a straight flush, a black 3 probably would make you more money here. A red 3 puts a possible flush out there, but with a black, it's hard to read you on a straight, and you probably get more action. Unless the Villian has AX of hearts, in which case you double up. Anyhow, I call the 3's three and a half outs (only a half for the diamond as it could make the villian a flush). The other 8 diamonds I'll call 6 and a half outs (you may make a flush and lose to a higher flush). That gives you approximately 10 outs, 3.6 to 1. $10 in the pot, and you need to make $15 to make this call profitable. If you hit your hand, you will make at least $5 on the river most of the time. So I say this was a good play, it just didn't hit.

Re: Turned straight flush draw.
looks to be pretty standard to me.
maybe lead the turn a little stronger (full pot) since nobody else has shown interest in the hand, and the 6 probably didn't improve anybody else. You'll have more chance of taking down the pot right here, whereas a half pot bet here looks a lot like a weak hand trying to steal the pot/see where its at. You also stand to make more on the river if you are called and your hand hits, as the pot will be bigger and your opponents hand probably will be stronger too. |
