The Gutshot Cardclub, London
Will be passing through London in December, hoping to get my first live cash game experience (appart from home games). So I was just wondering if there is always a game on or if there is an optimum time of the day to drop by. Also how soft are the game? I'm thinking of playing the £50 buy-in PL omaha tables, but hold'em would be fine aswell.
Also, their website is excellent, alot of casinos could learn from them, I hate ahving ot send in an email to ask about the buy-ins and structures of tournaments. thnaks for any help/advice you can give. |

I think I read someplace, that in the UK, you have to be a member of these clubs in order to play there.
If this is true, I don't know how much it costs to join, or if you have to have another member sponsor you or not. |

Re: The Gutshot Cardclub, London
Hiya,
You have to be a member, but all this involves is taking ID (I think only a driving license or passport is okay) and then producing it when you go to the desk. Gutshot is a great cardroom (not that there's many rooms in London to compare it to!)...the games are very loose aggressive. They do £25 minimum PL (£0.50/1) Holdem and £50 minimum £1/2 Holdem and Omaha pretty much all the time. The £50 tables get a house dealer too and they take a small rake out of the pots, as opposed to UK casinos that charge a seat charge. All in all, a great community and you can tell that the staff there all enjoy poker and are helpful people. Hope that helps, Laddy. |

Re: The Gutshot Cardclub, London
Laddy, what could you sit down with at a £50 table? Is there a cap? What would a typical distribution of stack sizes look like?
Cheers, --JTR. |

Re: The Gutshot Cardclub, London
A standard buy in to the 50GBP game is about 300-400GBP with enough cash for at least one reloads (There is no cap). You will normally have 1-2 players who will buy in with 1,000GBP and a couple with 200GBP. The Omaha game doesn't get going every night, it is normally a couple of night's a week. Essentially it is members choice of games, you put your name on the board for the game you would like, if they get the players they open up a table, but Omaha only tends to get opened once or twice a week.
10pm-2am tend to be the peak times for cash games, but you will normally get a full table game from 8pm to 6am. There is a nightly tournament from 8pm see the website for details, these are all self deal apart from the sat night. |

Re: The Gutshot Cardclub, London
The BB in the 25 pound game used to be 50p, not 1 pound. Has this changed? I thought the BB in the 50 pound game used to be 1 pound rather than 2, but I'm not sure as I never played it.

It used to be the case that you had to join 24 hours before playing - but the law changed last month and you can now join up as a member on your first visit and walk right in. Just make sure you take photo-ID (passport/driving licence) along and you'll be fine. EDIT: membership costs nothing and you don't need a sponsor. |
