Default Middle pair with one overcard on flop, how do you play it?

MP1 is 22.9/0/0.9 over the few 48 hands I have. Table was quite tight and aggressive and I wasn't really happy with my table selection. Mp1 was one of the few more passive players (at least so far in the game). What do you think of my thinking here?

Party Poker 2.00/4.00 Hold'em <font color="#0000FF">(9 handed)</font> link

Preflop: Hero is UTG+1 with 9[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], 9[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img].
<font color="#666666">1 folds</font>, Hero calls, MP1 calls, <font color="#666666">3 folds</font>, Button calls, <font color="#666666">1 folds</font>, BB checks.

Preflop is a close call to me limping or raising. At this table I wanted to be more careful and chose a limp.

Flop: (6.00 SB) 3[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], A[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], 6[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] <font color="#0000FF">(4 players)</font>
BB checks, Hero checks, MP1 checks, Button checks.

I like to check these ones OOP with the intention of folding if anyone bets the flop. Maybe there is no Ace out there but most often there is and even if there isnt there are always overcards to worry about.

Turn: (3.00 BB) 2[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] <font color="#0000FF">(4 players)</font>
BB checks, <font color="#CC3333">Hero bets</font>, <font color="#CC3333">MP1 raises</font>, Button folds, BB folds, Hero folds.

Now that tere were reasons to believe noone had any ace I bet it but the turnraise looked liked a failed c/r-attempt to me or a slowplay with a set or he just got lucky hitting str8 or two-pair. Or am I just weak here?

Final Pot: 6.00 BB.

i think the hand would have been easier to play if you raised preflop

Is this standard in UTG+1 on a tight table?

You want to raise PF if the game is tight. Bet the flop.

SSHE says to limp with 99 in early position in tight games.

Some people here like to raise things like 77 UTG in tight games. Maybe if the whole table are very solid tags you might not want to raise here, but I suspect they're mostly weak tight or mediocre TAGs so a raise is good.

Bet the flop.

Is the number of players in the pot important or do you always bet the flop?

You should obviously be conscious of the fact that people are more likely to hold an A the more see the flop, but all the more reason to have bet PF. Maybe the A-4 or A-6 that ends up taking this down would have folded PF, and you can take it.

That said, I'm less likely to bet this board than if the overcard was a K, because of how often SS players play A-x.

I see no problem limping in with 99. Personally I would have bet the flop to take charge. Lots of scare things and since there was no raise after you there is a better chance no one has an ace.

I'd take charge until someone shows you that they want to take charge OR another scare card hits.

In this case don't be scared of scar cards . . . . YET!

i don't understand limping with 99. it's a premium hand in my mind. what are you hoping to accomplish? a multi-way flop with nothing but unders? set value? i haven't read the book in question, so i guess i'm missing something. why give EP's the chance to draw out with ace little suited?
