Re: question
Big bet poker refers to no limit and pot limit games. Limit poker is the opposite of big bet poker.

Re: question
Let's say you're in a $4-8 game of limit hold 'em
Small blind = $2 big blind (small bet) = $4 Big Bet = $8 |

[ QUOTE ]
ok thanks that is what i thought it was in limit but i wasnt sure. now if we are talkin no limit what would a big bet be? [/ QUOTE ] "BB" in limit games discussion is the "big bet" amount. "BB" in no-limit games is the "big blind" amount. Since the betting structure in no-limit isn't fixed, there isn't a "big bet", per se. |

Re: question
Except with BB/100, where most people are quoting Poker Tracker (which uses Big Bet/100 even for NL).
Easiest way to remember it (for me at least), big bet = 2x the big blind. |

Re: question
Well, in NL, I consider a "big bet" as one that makes it unprofitable for me to play the hand I'd intended to limp in with (grin).
Seriously, though there's no definition or relevance for the term except for determining ROI. |
