Are these chips good?
Browsing on EBAY I found these chips.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...51066&rd=1 does anyone own these? The look like nice chips but might be kinda generic. Any suggestions on something similar but something that may be a little more unique? At this point I don't care to design my own chip, but I wouldn't be opposed if the price were right. Thanks PG |

Re: Are these chips good?
these are the best kind of home-chips, they are pretty expensive though as you can see.

Re: Are these chips good?
They do look nice, I have the suited metal insert plastic chips (some call them composite, whatever the hell that is supposed to mean) right now and they are adaquate, I just really wanted to get some real nice ones for my game. Furthermore, they are more secure, as not EVERYONE has them.
The ones in the EBAY ad are nice, they just look like they might be a mass-produced generic chip we might see selling tons cheaper 6 months down the road. PG |

Re: Are these chips good?
Search on here for "Paulson"
You can also check pokerchipreviews.com and chiptalk.net. There was group buy for these Paulsons recently. I'm not sure if the eBay price is a good one or not. |

[/ QUOTE ] Yea I should have searched first, I usually do. My main concern is if these chips are gonna become the dime-a-dozen chips that are sold everywhere like the 11.5 metal insert chips. I bought a set of 500 and paid well over $100 two years ago, now people are giving the damn things away. I don't want to pay $500 for something I will be able to get for 1/2 that around christmas. I have checked those sites, they are very informative. PG |

Re: Are these chips good?
I really don't think the Paulson chips will ever be "discounted" like the dice chips you are talking about. Paulson has been making casino quality chips for years, and they are of the highest quality. If these chips are in you price range they are nice chips, and will be a nice set for you to use.

One other question
I didn't want to start a new thread for this, but what does 'james bond' mean in reference to the Paulson chips?
The chips are pricey, no doubt. I am just concerned with them becoming more commonplace to the point they're not considered a premium, or perhaps 12 months down the road the next line comes out and they're liquidated. I run a home game that I anticipate growing to be rather large, and it will be impossible to prevent the suited chips from being smuggled in. But, if the chips in the EBAY ad were to become cheaper and more common I could run into the same problem. I may have some custom chips manufactured just for simplicity sake. Thanks PG |

Re: One other question
place to be
james bonds were chips used in a james bond movie and then paulson remade them, the ones you see now are the newest make of them and they syupposedly have some mold issues but still great chips. right now HPC has paulson phaorohs being sold at a group buy price at 87cents. the chips will be done and be expected to be delivered by early august. hope this helps |
