USPC commentary
Just watching a rerun of the USPC, where Todo knocks out Brian Haber (sp?) with K4s vs A8s. After the turn, Todo picked up a gutshot wheel draw along with his nut flush draw, and called a bet of about 11k. The odds showed Haber as about a 71% favorite to win, yet Lon Mcaren seemed stunned at the call with "just" a draw. Also, he said that Haber hated the call, even though Haber was over 2-1 to win the pot. I just don't understand, maybe this is why amateurs who reason mainly based on what they see/hear on TV (instead of reading articles, books, message boards, and actually playing) are so bad. I just don't understand why Haber hates a call there, with Todo having only a 30% chance to win.

Re: USPC commentary
Because when you get into a confrontation, you always lose some money to everyone else who's not playing the pot. Your first chip is worth more than your second chip, and so on.
Also, if I remember correctly, Toto was probably getting pot odds to call. |
