Default Help with Vegas choices? Harrahs/I.P. sold out

I want a good core place to play poker and will go off to Bellagio and Mirage now and then. The Imperial Palace and Treasure Island are sold out so my next door ideas are gone... Harrah's is sold out.

I like the Hard Rock but I need a good poker room... Anyone have the skinny on the new Hard Rock Poker room?

My choices are: Plaza/GoldenNugget/Palms/Rio... although other suggestions ok... which is best for a good 4/8 game? want to sip a few Coronas in good atmosphere.

thx in advance

Mandalay Bay has an excellent $4-$8 with 1/2 kill game.

I havent played there yet, but the Orleans has a great poker room and the rooms are reasonable. In addition, there is a shuttle that runs from there too Barbara Coast for all your strip poker (no pun intended) needs. That's what I'd recommend if you are wanting to get a decent cheap room (it's close to Palms as well).

Otherwise, the Golden Nuggget is by far the best, cleanest, nicest hotel downtown and that would be my second recommendation.

The orleans always has 2/4 and 4/8 games running and daily tournaments. You can get a poker rate as long as you get a poker players card and put in a total of 4 hours of live play a day, which isn't hard. GREAT food, good prices, good gambling, hot waitresses! yummy

Monte Carlo is another option - basically same set-up as Mandalay but with an enclosed room. Stay away from downtown unless you are on a budget.

The Monte Carlo has a nice room, and you can guzzle their
microbrews while you play. The main problem there tho
is the room needs expansion. It was a fine play to
play prior to the Hold Em explosion. The last few times
I stopped in the room was full with long lists.

A couple of hotels close to the Bellagio and Mirage with relatively new poker rooms are Flamingo and Ballys. Flamingo just added quite a few tables, and Ballys just put a room right in the middle of the casino floor. As I recall, both rooms offer 4/8 -- and, they're both quite close to the higher limit action across the street.
