19 Year Old Looking To Get Into Commerce
I'm 19 years old, and I look a little on the young side. I want to get into the Commerce, what are the chances I will be able to successfull get in and stay in and play at the NLHE tables?
thanks |

if you don't have a fake id, forget it. security will get you as you walk in the door.

Re: 19 Year Old Looking To Get Into Commerce
I've seen some guys in the casino who look awfully young; don't know whether they were questioned or not. I would imagine you'd have a better shot when it is real crowded.
My mom used to paint a moustache on me when we'd go to Las Vegas when I was 19 or 20. Really. After all, what are moms for? |

I disagree. I think he has a 75% chance of getting in if by young he looks 19. If he looks 16, that's a different story.
I look 19 and have never been carded at the Commerce. -Michael |

Re: 19 Year Old Looking To Get Into Commerce
Hey Bruiser,
My advice to you if you really want to go is to act like you own the place. The casino where I'm from in NY you only have to be 18 to get in. So when I was 18, I would go and get carded pretty often the first bunch of times I went. The reason was, because I was kind of just checking everything out. Basically, they could tell I was new, looked young, and would come and ask me for ID. I was 18, so I took out my ID and there was no problem, but still I wanted to see what I could do to not get ID'd. Finally, I went and basically acted like I belonged. When I walked by a security guard I either wouldn't make eye contact, or I would greet him as I was walking by. I would walk along like I knew what table I was headed for and didn't have time to waste. As long as you seem as you belong, you may be ok. I only got ID'd I think 1 time total after that, when I had probably gotten ID'd my first 5 or 6 times. That's my advice. |

How about if I have a fake ID, what are the chances of getting caught? What are the consequences?

Re: 19 Year Old Looking To Get Into Commerce
Hey there,
Let me give you some advice young grasshoppa. I'm 18 years old and I also look pretty young. However, I'm lucky because I'm also about 6'3. The KEY to getting in is to hide the baby face. Wear sunglasses and maybe a hat - wear nice clothes, but don't dress up too much. I always wear an oxford shirt and nice khakis or cargo pants and nice shoes. Take a DIAGONAL path when entering the main casino. Don't go straight into the door. Enter the door from an angle. It's a perception thing. Definitely walk in there like you own the place, look confident too. DONT MAKE EYE CONTACT WITH THE GUARD UNLESS YOU WANT TO TALK TO HIM AND YOU ARE GOOD WITH PEOPLE. |

Re: 19 Year Old Looking To Get Into Commerce
There were some kids who looked like they were 15 playing in the 10/20NL game this weekend. At the rate they were hemorrhaging money, I think some of the regulars would have lynched any security guard who tried to card them.

The consequences are almost surely none. They'll just turn you away.
