Default Over-Under on the Farmers...

Article in the WSJ this morning on U.S. farmers. Net farm income expected to jump 24.5% this year. Article relates to retailers in rural areas, and how farmers are spending like there's no tomorrow. Anecdote about one farmer spending $3K on jewelry for Christmas. Anyone have an Over-Under on how long before we see the next Farm-Aid concert, or next movie on how those evil bastards at the bank are stealing the poor farmer's land after forcing him to take out a loan? If possible, please provide a link to that article.

I think it's interesting how US farm productivity has provided all US citizens with the cheapest, most abundant food supply in the world yet people seem to think farmers are just bums. Yes they receive government subsidies, but so do many non-agricultural industries (including major companies). Besides, I think that since the government weilds massive influence over US ag product prices in the world market, farmers should be paid for government interference in the market. Before anyone starts harping on how this is a "liberal communist wacko" view, it should be noted that Republican and Democrat administrations alike both use agricultural products as a political tool in the world arena.
