Betting Amount On The Flop

I was watching Phil Ivey play a small stakes table on Full Tilt Poker the other day. Is there a good reason for betting 30%-50% of the pot in a small stakes game? He was making very small continuation bets like .80 into a 2.25 pot.

I assume he's working on the fundamentals. A probe bet into a $2.25 pot could be around 80 cents. Phil's probably more used to an $80,000 probe into a $225,000 pot...but whatever.

I like to play it the same regardless of the dollar amounts. Triple the blinds to enter, 3/4 of the pot here, raise the pot there...etc.

Oh, I just thought there was more to it since Ivey went right back to betting around the size of the pot when he switched to the 50-100 game.

i would guess hes just taking it easy on the people down there as many of them are new players.
