Power supply fan failure
I'm pretty sure the fan in my computer power supply just failed. It had been making a loud whoosing sound for about a month and today the sound is gone and it doesn't feel like there's air coming out the back. Is this going to be a problem that will require buying a new power supply?
As for other venilation in the system, I have a 90mm fan in the front with a big fan duct bringing the air in and a 90mm fan on the side of the case as inputs, and a really big 120mm fan on the back for exhaust. Any thoughts? The Doc |

Re: Power supply fan failure
TURN THE SYSTEM OFF NOW!!!!!!
Best case scenario the power supply dies. Worst case it sends out some bad power right at the end and fries several components. Get a new power supply. |

Re: Power supply fan failure
You CAN replace just the fan. But just buy another PS. And don't buy a cheap POS one either, get a decent one! It DOES make a difference. You will get what you pay for.

Re: Power supply fan failure
people really generally underestimate how hugely important using good capacitors in a power supply is, or using them in any electronic application are for that matter. you really really need a new power supply quick, dont run your computer with a fanless power supply like that
