Default JJ hit set on turn...bet out or C/R?

Only 10 hands with preflop capper. When I hit the set should I have bet out or what I did? I'm thinking I got an extra bet from the button only calling one.

Yay or nay?

Who really cares? Post something where the decision matters, i.e. it's not a hand that plays itself.

You must understand that the frequency with which you have top set makes worrying about extra BB's petty. When someone spews extra bets with marginal hands they can do that every few minutes.

I see this response a lot, but I've been giving it some thought and I think this decision matters.

On average you will get 4.5 pocket pairs every 100 hands which have a 1/8 chance to turn into a set on the flop so on average you will flop a set a little more than once every 200 hands. So at a minimum you get a strong hand like this once every 200 hands (and almost certainly more often when you take flopped straights/flushes/full houses into account). If you could have won one extra BB then you are talking about a minimum .5BB/100 difference which is pretty significant.

Since the hand is 3-way and the flop capper is acting immediately after you I think a check/raise is perfect as you get an extra bet out of the button like you mentioned. And when he 3-bets, well, life is good

Yes, the check-raise was good. Once in 200 hands is not how anyone here should be trying to improve their play. I think we just fall in love with these hands and want to remember them and how much money we won. It makes us feel good, but it doesn't improve the places in our game where we are in much more need of improvement.

I think the more interesting street is the flop.

Agreed. CO went from zero to cap in 6.24 seconds preflop. When he raises my flop bet, I think I'm just calling down, hoping for a J or an overplayed AK, but knowing that I'm just going to be paying off AA-QQ.
