Tourney Strategy

Tourney is a $100 +20 no addons or rebuys.....

How early do you have to double up in a Brick&M tournament or online tourney with similar format, starting with $2500? (this tourney happens to be at Turning Stone Sundays) Typically this has 60-80 players.

Blinds start at 25/50 and increase every 20 minutes (which I think is fast) (25/50 - 50/100 - 75/150 - 100/200 - 150/300 - 200/400 - 300/600 -4/8 - 5/10 etc)

My feeling is that if you haven't doubled your stack by 200/400 you've got very little chance to make the final table.

i think you need to be playing even faster than that. ideally you want to keep your M above(or close to ) 20. that means(ideally) you'd like to double your stack by the 75/150 level to keep your M above the 20 mark.

at the 200/400 mark an M of 20 would put your stack at $12k. at that point in the tourney if you're only up to $5k your M is a littel over 8. that's getting close to all-in or nothing danger territory for me. to be comfortable at that point i would like to have $7.5k-$9k.

i don't know anything about that particular tourney, but it sounds like a tough structure. you're going to have to really play fast and furious to grow your stack.
